Cody Brewer stuffed the dead rattlesnake in his shirt, careful to protect himself from the fangs. He was glad that it was a cool day - that's the reason he had killed the viper so easily - and his mackinaw hid the bulge. A serpent once caused a man to sin, but with this one he planned to catch the ruthless outlaw leader.
