Enjoyable read
I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. To Tempt a Scandalous Lord by Liana De Rosa is the fourth book in the Entangled Once Upon a Scandal Series. The books are all written as stand-alones. Alicia, Dowager Countess of Lindsay is enjoying widowhood, no longer isolated in the country as she was during her marriage, she’s living in London, making new friends and importantly able to express her opinions as a writer of political chap books, that she must do this anonymously does not detract from her desire to make a difference in the world. Nial Campbell, Marquess of Inverray, has devoted his life to politics and leadership of his party, becoming Prime Minister is a goal that is finally within his grasp, but those damnable political chapbooks are questioning his abilities as a leader and his record as a member of parliament. During a waltz, Alicia’s brooch catches on Nail’s coat and the bodice of her dress is torn and in order to protect her reputation, Nial announces their engagement. Their marriage of convenience begins to grow into something more, but Alicia’s secret leaves a shadow over their union that only honesty and a willingness to trust each other can mend. I enjoyed reading this book and do recommend reading it but qualify that while it’s not dark, it is very dense and of course very political. It’s definitely a story that will make you think.
