Transcultural Literacy and Mobility
Publisher Description
This volume positions itself at the crossroads of African American cultural mobility. The conceptualization of the Americas as a space of entanglement shows through image, text and sound how African Americans’ continuing and shifting communities, identities and cultural productions mark an important gateway to a larger understanding of the interconnectedness of society, culture, politics, law, and environment. We explore the current acceleration of processes of transnational communalization, development, regulation and communication. We intend to counter concepts that inform “globalization,” in favor of highlighting the multiple ways in which mobility manifest.
