New York (AirGuideBusiness - Travel Business News North America) Mar 21, 2010 Council helps Hawaii reach out to Japan to boost tourism In an effort to help hotels and other tourism-related businesses in Hawaii recapture the declining Japanese tourism market, the Japan Hawaii Tourism Council is working with industry partners on both sides of the Pacific to get feedback from Japanese tourists on their experiences in Hawaii and how they can be improved. Factors such as declining population numbers, attraction to other destinations and a poor economy in Japan have contributed to the slowing tourism, but the council is targeting key areas to help boost numbers: airlift service, marketing and meeting incentives, and convention and exhibition business.
