Well crafted short stories
From the thoughtful personal life of Michael Crichton. He explores places and some new age ideas. Then he tells you how it felt to be there and what if anything he learned. Many destinations were underwhelming. But he might notice he is talking to a cactus or can see auras. Its a strangely enchanted world from someone who would pride themselves in not being superstitious. At the start he is in harvard medical school. Cadavers are creepy. But as people acclimatize they play games tossing livers around the room for fun. Human behaviour is strange.
