Charles Kingsley was an English priest, historian and novelist, famous mostly for his works Hypatia, Hereward the Wake and Westward Ho! Due to his interest in history, Kingsley wrote several historical novels and achieved a great success after publishing his works Hereward the Wake and Westward Ho! 

First published in 1884, the book True Words for Brave Men is a unique collection of Charles Kingsley's before unpublished sermons, written and preached during his career as a broad church priest and collected by the request of a Colonel of Artillery to influence British soldiers in the Crimea.
