Twilight at the Trocadero

A late middle aged Roger Carrington is nearing the end of a dull career in a government office. One evening, about to cross the Victoria Bridge to his apartment, he encounters a woman emerging from the mist. Stylish in a trench coat and fedora, she hesitantly asks him to accompany her across the bridge, after which she fades into the night. It happens again. With her arm through his they seem a romantic couple. But why is she so anxious about crossing? And where does she go, trailing music from another era? As he learns more, Roger struggles with reality as he is compelled into a world of romance and tragedy, at the Trocadero Dansant.
