Understanding Windsor Locks History
Publisher Description
This is the fourth book in a series. The first three are: Windsor Locks History, Windsor Locks History: Volume II, and Windsor Locks History: Volume III. The first and second books in this series have chapters on the important people, places and events of Windsor Locks town history. Volume III has a number of collections of photos of Windsor Locks taken between 1880 and 1960, as well as more chapters on town history. This volume presents a simple organization of Windsor Locks's 350 year history into four phases: The Settlers, Main Street Commerce, Bradley Field Area Commerce, and Residential Community. The chapters of the first three volumes are written in the "anecdotal" style", that is, chapters provide the stories of individual people, events and places. This volume switches to the "chronological" style, which is showing the events in the order in which they occurred. The 4-phase structure makes the chronological chapters much easier to read, understand and remember. This volume presents the chronological history in both words and photographs. It also shows the reader how to find videos of old Windsor Locks on the Internet.
