This interactive book contains a set of interactive exercises designed to accompany a textbook in urban economics. The book is organized to directly accompany Arthur O’Sullivan’s Urban Economics (McGraw-Hill, 9th edition, 2018), but will work with other textbooks. There are three types of interactive widgets.
Roll-your-own graphs. The reader chooses the values of key parameters and observes the implications for a familiar graphical tool.
Find the equilibrium. The reader uses information about market conditions to find the equilibrium price or quantity. The widget provides feedback to guide the search for the equilibrium.
Make the decision. The reader plays the role of a decision maker such as a consumer, firm, or policy maker. Armed with key information about the economic environment, player makes a choice and observes the consequences.
