Using Demo Record

Machinima is a type of movie found commonly on the internet where the filmmaker uses existing material and repurposes it for their own story-telling efforts. If you play any or all of the MMO games Neverwinter, Star Trek Online, and Champions Online then this book will help you to understand Cryptic Studios' "Demo Record" tool.

Though machinima has been around for decades, creating it is still a bigger challenge than one might assume, primarily for the lack of good tools designed for creating it.

The Massive Multiplayer Online games "Champions Online", "Star Trek Online", and "Neverwinter developed by Cryptic Studios and published by Perfect World Inc. provide just such a tool built into the game client everyone uses to play these very games.

Though this tool is developed, designed, and intended as a developer tool its existence is not secret and Cryptic Studios even encouragers the general public use it at their whim, but with the caveat that it is publicly unsupported in any way.

This tool is publicly christened Demo Record and this is the first publicly available 'user guide' to help aspiring machinima author to get started at creating awesome movies based on their favorite game.

Neither this author or the contents of this book are affiliated with Cryptic Studios or Perfect World and though this book has received accolades, it also is not officially supported by either company and is a "fan-made" effort by its author.
