Diverse short and novellas telling of the influences the Varan, through Doella, made to the many planets in the Lamina. Varan failed to make Earth planets which lasted because they considered humans, lesser beings, and so left them with flaws they could not shake off and so usually destroyed themselves. Doella, and her family accepted hybrids of all races as equals.
