Publisher Description

Walter Francis White (Jul 1, 1893 – Mar 21, 1955) was an American journalist, novelist, and essayist. He was also a civil rights activist and for over twenty years he headed NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). In 1916 he graduated Atlanta University, a traditionally black college. In 1918 he joined NAACP and after years of service he succeeded Weldon Jonson, the former leader at his post.

Victory is a short story by Walter White. It revolves around a football match between two university teams. This sport event is perfect metaphor the racial rivalry, which was in common on the verge of twentieth century in the United States. Relationship of teammates and their superiors is a vivid and informative representation of what was going on between and within both camps. And what makes this quite honest view even more valuable, is that it was made by the white.
