Superb bibliographic reference
I came across this while searching for on line recommendations on Virgil. I didn't find any sites that come near the value of this book. I'm studying Virgil on my own and pursuing a multi-year reading of his works in Latin so I'm looking for recommendations beyond the usual undergraduate commentaries - useful as they are - but far short of an exhaustive specialist list. This neatly organized discussion with a brief description of each reference and how it contributes to ones appreciation and understanding of Virgil is indispensable. It treats each of Virgil's works separately with further subsections on translations, commentaries, literary analyses, etc. Different people will of course want to pursue different lines of inquiry but this guide will allow most readers to select their best options out of the vast Virgil literature. Excellent.
