Matthew Randall had always loved grey Skegness with its foolish, freezing fields. It was a place where he felt ecstatic.
He was a stable, hungry, squash drinker with fat feet and ginger eyelashes. His friends saw him as a bewildered, boiling banker. Once, he had even jumped into a river and saved a sleepy baby. That's the sort of man he was.
