Publisher Description

This book contains over 70 historic and beautiful black and white photos - most taken in 1942 and 1943 - when America's war production was in full swing. The majority of the pictures show women in various war production-related manufacturing jobs.

This collection of historic photos also comes with two (2) black and white films - over one hour in total length:

"When Work Is Done" is a 1943 short film produced by the Office of War Information. In this film plant workers flood the town of Sylacauga, Alabama, and the town constructs facilities and organizes activities to make them feel welcome. This film gives an excellent, idealized view of homefront life in a World War II factory town.

"War Comes to America," (1945) is Chapter VII of Frank Capra's "Why We Fight" series. It begins by celebrating the American values of liberty and freedom that are threatened by the aggressive forces of Germany and Japan. The early years of the war are seen from the perspective of the United States, with particular focus on the  reluctance of the American  people to get involved in a European or Asian conflict. As the German army rolls across Europe, Nazi  organizations spring up across the United States. Eventually the American government realizes that war is inevitable and cranks up the production of weapons and drafts the largest army in its history.
