Re-read the original book RIGHT AFTER reading this book!

The original book suddenly became much richer and more enticing after I finished this Behind the Story, I HAD to open up the original book once more! What a way to increase the reading experience! Highly recommended!

Moriarty said she had always wanted to write a book about time travel but the logistics she had unearthed from research made her head feel like exploding. Then one day, a newspaper article inspired her to do a compromise, and she wrote a book about amnesia instead.


The inspiration for the novel, What Alice Forgot, is a newspaper article about a woman in the UK who had lost part of her memory and still believed that she was a teenager. She did not recognize her husband and children and refused to cook dinner or do other motherly duties—in short, she only did “teen stuff” that didn’t complement her actual age. Moriarty got really fascinated about the idea of how our memory could become a big basis of how we identify ourselves and she began to play around with all the possible stories in her head."
