The trajectory of Zahra Al-harazi’s life defies expectations. In this electrifying book that travels from a small village in Yemen to a small town in Minnesota to a Calgary suburb, Al-harazi describes surviving two civil wars; her years as a young, stay-at-home immigrant mother with little education; and how she became one of Canada’s most successful businesswomen.
Navigating two worlds, Al-harazi has struggled to find her own way between East and West, religion and belief, freedom and obligation, family and desire, love and honour, despair and gratitude, war and war again. With warmth and courageous honesty, she recounts how it is only through gratitude and persistence that we can find happiness and the courage to build the life we want.

What it takes...
...sounds almost like “a bumpy road abroad”. But it was more to me. Thank you, Zahra, for being so open, vulnerable and honest in sharing your life, your journey, in teaching valuable lessons, and in entertaining in a very fun but also practical way. An amazing story which I truly can relate to being an immigrant from Europe. My upbringing in a communist country was very different than the life I experience here in Canada. But I would not want to change anything - my past taught me lots of valuable lessons and helped me to shape and to develop into the person I am now...
Many thanks for the helpful and insightful stories and lessons regarding business, but also regarding your own personal journey as a woman, business woman, mom, wife, daughter, friend....
Your kids are...adorable, just from reading the way you describe them and their actions..
Many blessings to you and Mayo, my prayers for health and love always, no matter what situation you might find yourself in.
