Wheat Belly is a provocative look at how eliminating wheat—even so-called healthy whole grain wheat—from our diets is the key to permanent weight loss and can offer relief from a broad spectrum of health and digestive problems.
Drawing on decades of clinical studies and the extraordinary results he has observed after putting thousands of his patients on wheat-free regimens, Dr. William Davis makes a compelling case against this ubiquitous ingredient. A wheat-free diet has been associated with significant benefits, including the following:
Weight loss of twenty, thirty, even fifty pounds in the first few monthsAlleviation of metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes Recovery from intestinal woes, like ulcerative colitis and celiac diseaseMarked improvement in overall cholesterol and LDL countsImprovement in bone density and reversal of osteoporosisCessation of skin conditions from psoriasis to oral ulcers and hair lossReduction of inflammation and rheumatoid arthritis pain
Readable, thought-provoking and carefully researched, Wheat Belly offers a new and vitally important perspective on the most critical health concerns of our time.
Bestselling author Davis (Wheat Belly) has filtered down his popular albeit controversial zero-grain approach to weight loss and optimal health to this neatly encapsulated 10-day plan. Calling for the elimination of wheat and grains, which Davis feels are akin to opiates because of their "addicting and damaging" effects on the body, he guides readers through creating a grain-free kitchen, coaches them through grain withdrawal, and provides a slew of kid- and family-friendly recipes (including deep-dish pizza, fettuccine Alfredo, and cheesecake). The theory behind the plan (which other diet and nutrition experts have contested) is clearly explained, and testimonials from past participants offer insight and encouragement. Davis's program will appeal to those looking to shed pounds, and also to anyone yearning for relief from the long list of ailments and health issues he claims can be virtually wiped out though his critics are less likely to be convinced.

This book is very interesting and thought-provoking. It argues many strong reasons for eliminating wheat from your diet and provides the strategies and information needed to make the transition easy.
I enjoyed this book. It was very informative. I plan on giving this a try. I have a celiac son and my daughter suffers from many stomach problems. My daughter and daughter-in-law are both reading this book too. Maybe we can all be healthier without wheat.
