Elaine Bank's new life begins in her attorney's office at the closing of her new home after her divorce is finalized. As a successful realtor, she is able to afford for her daughter and herself a beautiful new home in an upper middleclass town with her live in nanny. As she settles into her new life, she is thrown into the politics of her daughter's school while trying to compete in her ever changing highly competitive luxury real-estate office. Along the way, Elaine meets the very successful and charming Michael Mason. As Elaine's and Michael's romance blossoms, Elaine continues to get phone calls for Patricia Plante on her new home number. Elaine becomes increasing obsessed with finding out more about Patricia Plante when she realizes that her office has a file on Patricia and recently sold her Mansion in Saddle River and she now resides in Alpine.
