Publisher Description
This is an adventure story of historical fiction. It begins with a young American military officer crossing the Atlantic in the late 1930s on the most luxurious ocean liner ever built. There he meets a rich English gentleman, and then a beautiful French nurse, both about his own age, and both of who will change his life forever. Shortly afterwards, the novel’s protagonist finds himself in World War II, first fighting the Japanese in Burma, and then fighting black marketeers in India. Following the war, which has left him physically and psychologically damaged, he tries to rebuild his life. When he finds love, tragedy intervenes, and he finds himself once again in India, where he seeks to commit an unbelievable barbarous act. Seeking redemption, he inadvertently finds himself staying at an India ashram, where his life is changed by the teachings of Eastern religious philosophy. But then, he is left with another life-altering decision. What choice will he make?
