TW: Sexual...assault?
Normally I am a fan of Heywood and her sweet love stories, but this book triggered me. Spoiler alert: the heroine Sydney gets into a massive car accident and is stuck with her jaw wired shut and so many broken bones. She and the male lead Heath had a previous relationship. To win her back he takes care of her through her injuries. Sounds sweet, until you realize Sydney was very hurt by Heath, and does not want to see him or be close to him. But while she’s trapped in casts, he forces sleeping in the same bed with her, touching her...all in the name of caring for her. And she finds this hard, multiple times wishing she could scream. I don’t know, it made so anxious to read. But most others give it positive reviews? The writing flows nicely I suppose, and they do seem like a good couple in the end but I can’t get past the crappy middle...
