Publisher Description

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A powerful, blazingly honest memoir: the story of an eleven-hundred-mile solo hike that broke down a young woman reeling from catastrophe—and built her back up again.

At twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother’s death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life. With no experience or training, driven only by blind will, she would hike more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State—and she would do it alone.

Told with suspense and style, sparkling with warmth and humor, Wild powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddened, strengthened, and ultimately healed her.

Wild

Great imagery of the wilderness, struggled to decide if I liked or disliked the main character. Funny in some places, disturbing in others - overall a worthwhile read.

Humbling

Being yourself and sharing with so much honesty your journey takes courage and tremendous strength. This book is an inspiration for many, it is a guide book to self, a nudge to get in there and bring to light all that you kept hidden for many years: your true self. And let us shine.

You cried, I cried

Funny how when the author starts to shed tears at the end of her journey and nothing before, that was when I cried as well - with the exception of Lady, but I'm not going there. :(

My Mom passed away a couple years back and I've been struggling with my life since then. Reading this novel has brought back memories of my own life, and renewed my sense of adventure.

The only problem I had with the end, was that it was over. There are so many things I want to know. I feel as if a friendship ended before I wanted it to and I need updates.

Incredible book and and a Queen of a woman.
