Publisher Description
Abstract The mission of The Wildlands Project (TWP) is to protect and restore the ecological integrity and native biodiversity of North America through the establishment of a connected system of wildlands. The Wildlands Project coordinates the efforts of regional organizations and individuals in the development of conservation reserve design proposals that are used to construct a continental vision. Several regional efforts have been identified as primary cooperative projects to serve as models. The methods and approaches used by these primary cooperative projects can be adapted for use by other regions. The Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative and the Sky Islands Wildlands Network are two such projects. This paper will provide some background on The Wildlands Project and its scientific basis and then introduce two model projects.
