Alex’s boyfriend James enters his marrow into a vegetable growing competition at the summer fair. His marrow is clearly the biggest but he doesn’t win. Will spots some possible cheating going on by James’s rivals. Things take a turn for the worse when James lays a trap for the cheats. Will James and Will catch the cheats red handed? Will James be able to win the competition in the end?
Will is eight years old and lives with his mum, dad and his dog, Clive. He spends much of his time with his best friend Charlie who lives in the house on the opposite side of the street and Alexandra, his next door neighbour. Will is a good boy but he does have an unfortunate habit of getting into situations which often go from bad to worse.
The author, Paul Cook, wrote these stories for his eight year old son Matthew to read as part of his homeschooling activities during the COVID-19 lockdown. Matthew enjoyed reading the stories (or he was just being polite) and so Paul decided to share them online. These short stories are suitable for children aged 8-11 years old.
