Once upon a time, there were real men,

good and honest ones who didn’t resort to fairies’

spells to overcome witches and wizards.

Then - we don’t know why - they started

to hate one another, make war and kill for peanuts

and a tiny plot of land.

With their fables and morals, fairytale writers

came along to ease their pain and taught them

that they’d have a better life if they cared

about one another.

Embroiled in self-interest, mankind continued

undeterred along its way.

Fortunately for us, children open up a patch of clear

blue sky above us, the vault of goodness contained in

the purity of their hearts.
