A Cold Night for Crying takes place after humanity has been invaded and dominated by an alien species, the Karadi, in World War III. The focus of the book is about the sadness and grief that Mr and Mrs Friedlander felt, after they were informed that their son have died in the war in the Rocky Mountains.
