An Interactive Problem Solving Activity: The Cat and the Ladder

We focus on presenting a prototype of an interactive mathematics task in which students have an opportunity to access several tools and online resources to work on problem solving activities that aim to solve and extend the initial problem. We promote an inquiring approach to learning where students formulate and pursue questions while interacting with mathematical tasks or concepts. Thus, the use of several digital tools can provide different ways for students to represent tasks or concepts and to pose and discuss questions that can lead them to explore the task solutions from visual, numeric, graphic, and formal approaches.
