ATP 3-90.96/MCTP 12-10E is the Army’s and Marine Corps’ manual for cold weather operations. The fundamentals of arctic and extreme cold weather operations apply in any cold region. ATP 3-90.96/MCTP 12-10E is an operations manual.

The principal audience for ATP 3-90.96/MCTP 12-10E includes all Army/Marine Corps commanders, leaders, staff, and Soldiers/Marines. Commanders and staffs of Army or Marine Corps headquarters serving as joint task force or multinational headquarters should also refer to applicable joint or multinational doctrine concerning the range of military operations and joint or multinational forces. Trainers and educators throughout the Army and Marine Corps will also use this publication.
