Catalpa has two sister's trees and a mother tree in the Congo. The four trees center around a family of Pastors and their obedience to the cross. Catalpa is a that likes truth and honesty when the Pastors act up, Catalpa is there to drop a branch at their feet or knock a hole though a roof. And if you make her mad, she will pick up a nasty wind and blow you down, Let's begin with Arnold, a twelve generation Pastor who has run from the pulpit his entire adult life. Pop his father, had to preach until the age of 85 years old because Arnold never had the nerve to step up to the pulpit and give it a go, One day Arnold has a chainsaw in his hand and wants to cut the tree down for a new driveway. Catalpa is a hundred years old, the same age as Pop; she oxygenates her surrounding until terror grips her when she reads Arnold mind. She is mad at Arnold and drops many branches at his feet. Pop thought it was his fault for not telling his son the history behind the tree. Catapla comes alive in front of Arnolds eyes when his dad tells him the legacy behind the tree. Arnold is surprised at the story and can't believe the family legacy, The story unfolds with Arnold great-great grandfather who goes on a Christian retreat in the Congo. Rebels beat him and throw him into a river, but he lives and wakes up with four seeds next to him, then hears a voice giving him instructions on what to do with the four seeds, He has to plant one seed and hide the other two.Thirty years later Arnold, grandfather George is sent to the Congo by his father because he has lost his way. So, George must endure a test to get the other three seeds for him in his illegitimate children, James and Michael, but James and Michael go through many problems that anger Catapla. Their father tells them that they must always be obedient to the cross, but obedience is hard for the two young pastors who has many women problems and problems with each other.
