Circling the Square

Alison Hunter, mother of university student Jessica, and thirteen-year-old Ben, finally musters up the courage to leave her twenty-year marriage to Clive, a successful but disgruntled accountant. As she and Ben travel up the Queensland coast, looking for a place to begin new life, we witness the gradual changes that come with freedom from former restrictions.


Acquaintances made en route and in Yeppoon, a Queensland coastal town 45 kms from Rockhampton, open up a range of options previously unavailable to them, and in pursuing these they confront changing thoughts, feelings and experiences that result in growth and fulfilment. Alison goes into partnership in a catering business and so realises a long-held dream. whilst Ben acquires a horse and experiences life on a cattle station. 


In Melbourne, Clive Hunter gives up accountancy for a life on the land, denied him in his teens by and autocratic father, The changes in him enable reconciliation with his children, before tragic circumstances further transform the lives of the main characters and culminate in a new life on the Mornington Peninsula.
