Deal with the Devil

After the death of his wife and son, Jorick dreams of escaping his small-minded village, but he doesn't have the money. When Malick, a mysterious foreigner with a heavy purse and "eccentric" lifestyle, offers him a job, it seems like the answer to his prayers. The work is simple: tend the livestock and stay out of the house until sundown. But the easy money comes with a steep price. Something is draining the herd dry, and the truth hidden behind Malick's closed doors is more horrifying than any local legend.

As Jorick is drawn deeper into Malick's dark world, his own family becomes the target of a madness he helped unleash. When a final, brutal tragedy lands on his doorstep, Jorick must choose: die a broken mortal or strike a final deal with the devil to become a monster himself. Revenge is within reach, but in the shadows of the Amaranthine world, immortality is never a gift—it's a debt paid in blood.
