Domination  is book two in The Bloom Chronicles by Jason Halstead.

The known universe is Nyx's playground. Now she's got a crew and a lengthy list of upgrades for her ship to develop and test. A distress signal in an alien system puts all that on hold.

The Dextans are a human-like alien species known for their aggressive patriarchal culture. That makes the distress signal of a Dextan calling for help only the beginning of the mystery. Now the Dextan transport is drifting in space. Powerless and running out of air, the survivors have all but given up hope of rescue. Enter Nyx, eager to help… a little too eager, perhaps.

The survivors have their own agenda… an agenda that Nyx and the Dextan ships burning hard to recover any "stolen" materials do not factor into. Desperate times call for desperate measures and Nyx has to learn that the enemy of her enemy might not be her friend.
