The bad thing about this kind of life is that if we allow ourselves to keep making these excuses, we will never be good and effective leaders. Hiding our mistakes prevents us from seeing them as they are and facing them. Thus, when we hide our mistakes and flaws, we are actually preventing ourselves from learning how to become a good and effective leader.
The author states that at the heart of leadership is extreme ownership. Extreme ownership means that a person is truly and ultimately responsible for everything that happens during his guidance and control. Extreme ownership does not mean only taking responsibility for person’s job. It also means full ownership of every factor involved, which eventually leads to the outcome.
