Three months after his first encounter with the Rising, Lucas Tavera is back at school, but a return to normalcy is proving more difficult than he had hoped. Meanwhile, in the desert of west Texas, a girl and her father discover a mysterious young man with otherworldly powers and no memory of how he arrived there. As the Rising gathers its strength, these strangers will be forced together, and for Lucas, the battle will get personal.
