Great Pictures with an Ordinary Camera
If you have an ordinary camera and you want to take great pictures with it, this book will show you how.
By illustrating and explaining why some photographs have the wow factor, Great Pictures with an Ordinary Camera aims to inspire you to take more of your own.
The images featured range across most of the popular photographic subjects such as landscape, travel, people and animals.
They are grouped by the aspect that makes them stand out. Each section examines how and why this makes the photographs work.
You do not need to know about the technical aspects of photography. This book is about how to get fewer dud images and more that make people say 'You must have a good camera'.
It is not the camera that takes the picture, it's you. Whatever type of camera you have, you can take great pictures.
About the author
Martin O'Neill has been taking photographs for more than 20 years, most of them with an ordinary camera. He tried a professional-style medium-format camera for a while, but did not get on with it.
This is the book he wanted to inspire him to take pictures when he started out, rather than terrifying him that he didn't know his hyperfocal distance from his shutter-priority mode.
The aim is to help you enjoy your photography and the pictures you take.
Martin grew up in the Peak District and now lives in the New Forest.
He started his working life as a journalist and has worked in senior marketing and management roles for councils, charities and conservation bodies. He was part of the team that set up the New Forest National Park, the first to be established in England for nearly 50 years.
Many of Martin's photographs have featured in magazines, books and on websites and a number have won competitions.
