Heart of a Captive

Cale Matthews hadn't bargained for the trade Iron Kettle had in mind. He had come for food and supplies to make coats with, not a white captive. However, he'd seen Amelia Harrison's picture at the General Store. She had a fiance that was looking for her. Something about the picture had drawn her to him, but he couldn't quite identify what it was. Agreeing to the trade, he reckoned he could find her fiance and get her back to her folks.

What he hadn't reckoned on was Amelia's reluctance to go. She'd seen with her own eyes, heard for herself how white men regarded white women who lived through an Indian capture. She should be dead. Even though she'd never had relations with an Indian before, who would believe her. Would her fiance, Bertram still care about her? Could she forget all she learned with the Indians and go back to being one of her own people?
