When the local Magistrates' Court kept releasing violent, recidivist offenders back into the community, instead of jailing them, someone in the the south-east Australian town took it upon themselves to serve up a more suitable punishment - death.

This whodunnit mystery is a story of ambition gone wrong, when the newly arrived rookie naively conducts his own inquiries into the vigilante-style murder of these recently released offenders.

But his discoveries not only cause him to question his decision to become a cop, they could cost the inexperienced rookie his life.
