Elspet MacAlpin needs a husband soon, but not just anyone will do. To protect the lore that surrounds the Guardian, tradition says she must choose from the warriors of her clan, but she is determined to marry for love, as the previous Guardian did before her. 


When Kenneth MacGregor arrives at Dunlairig Castle on a quest to find his lost brother – his only living family – he is lost himself. Rootless and lonely, he is drawn to the lively Elspet, but he will not allow himself to fall for her. His quest cannot be abandoned… and yet…
