No More Fear of Flying

While studying Anthropology at university, Amelia E Paterson worked as an escort to make ends meet. After giving birth to a daughter, and being unable to support herself, she married several times, all of which ended up in divorce. Now in her mid-forties, her future uncertain, Amelia, out of curiosity, joined an isolated community (Fanvale) where women were totally in charge, laying down the law. Fanvale deems itself a sensual insider community (sic), everywhere else as the violent outsider world (vow). At Fanvale sensuality is the primary driving force, whereas aggressive behaviour is the norm in the vow. The ultimate goal of the community is to become an independent sovereign state, affording it the freedom to live life its own way, without having to worry about outsider world interference. During her time in the community, Amelia grew into an assertive, confident, and free-spirited woman. On Fanvale achieving its goal of independence, Amelia left the community and began entertaining the idea of pursuing her dream of going to Africa to study apes.
