In a small town just outside Washington DC, ten year-old Abi Swenson is at home, recovering between bouts of chemotherapy treating her cancer. A new telephone is installed to relieve her isolation and boredom.

Abi experiments calling random numbers and connects with Hussein. An unlikely friendship forms.

He relates words from his parents late night conversations
and their secretive behaviour. Soon both are certain that something evil is being planned…
