Beschreibung des Verlags

“The Light In the Forest” by Conrad Richter was first published in 1953. It is a work of fiction, but most of the characters have been inspired by the historic characters. The story is based on a historical fact. The story is based on the events, apparently fictionalized, that had taken place in the late eighteenth century and during the American Revolutionary War.

The book’s title has been derived from a poem written by William Wordsworth. The poem is presented at the beginning of the novel. The author had very extensively researched the relations between the Native Indians and the white during the eighteenth century in Ohio and Pennsylvania. The author also studied several white captives who wanted to leave the white civilization and go back to their adopted Indian families.
