Escribar was a mercenary who attempted to kill Pope Ahaziah. He failed and was then visited by the Pope in prison who changed and related to him because of Ahaziah's treacherous past and is now the Pope's protector and close friend. During a visit to a city in Serpentis, there's another assassination attempt on the Pope's life by beastmen, which is mysteriously aided by high elf magic.
