The Keys of Destiny

Presented as a memoir written by its aristocratic hero Antoine de Rocheyrol and published posthumously by a friend, it is a gothic horror story with a science fiction dimension that spans the French revolutionary Terror and Napoleon’s rise to power, including his Egyptian campaign. The historical background includes some real events such as the attempted assassination of Napoleon and the execution of Lavoisier. Besides abundant gothic elements, it contains action, romance and humour.
