Considered an Australian classic, The Songs of a Sentimental Bloke was published in 1915 by poet C. J. Dennis.  Selling over 60,000 copies and published in nine editions during its first year on the market, the book tells the story of Bill, a clown-like character from a small town in Australia who is introduced to a young woman named Doreen. The poems chronicle their introduction, courtship, marriage and journey through parenthood.
