Publisher Description
William Ralston Shedden-Ralston was a noted British scholar and translator from Russian. In 1853 he went to work as a junior assistant in the printed-book department of the British Museum. When he saw a need for someone who could catalogue Russian books, he began studying Russian, and even learned pages of the dictionary by heart.
«The Witch» is one of the 51 stories of the Shedden-Ralston belonging to the Russian folklore and to the myths of other cultures. According to the author's research there is a similarity among all the folk tales not only in content, but often in the external form and that the origin of many of our stories should be found in India or the East. Informative and incredibly well-written story, which will conquer your heart!
