When the Wind Blows

When Lani was a very little girl, she pretended she could speak to the wind, an understandable pastime for an imaginative child whose father had been carried away by a tornado, never to be seen again.

Many years later, caught in a fierce winter storm in the Colorado wilderness, she asks the wind for help out of desperation.

And the wind answers.
