This dramatic work of fiction wrapped in historical fact follows introverted college freshman Ryan Murphy, who arrives at a small southern college with a heart hardened by unseen scars.  His academic advisor, Sister Kate, is also a geographical transplant from New England whose brashness in only exceeded by her kindness. Together, they form a symbiotic relationship that ultimately saves his life while helping her to heal a loss she too has kept from the world.

Along the way, this story doesn't simply wrestle with life's most fundamental questions, it dares to resolve them.

In the end, Sister Kate's final lesson for Ryan is also the answer for all who have been hurt yet struggle to remain unguarded enough to love:
