Descripción editorial

Airplane Yoga was created in 2011 (updated in 2025) for travelers looking for ways to make to airplane travel more comfortable before and during the flight. These are easy-to-follow instructions for both frequent flyer ‘road warriors’ or occasional flyers and for those that are either brand new to yoga or are experienced yogis looking for yoga positions they can do on a plane to bring comfort and ease to their journey. There are descriptions and photographs of 18 yoga positions to perform sitting in an airplane seat and 6 yoga positions to perform standing up. Each of the 24 yoga positions has step-by-step written instructions and at least one graphic illustration demonstrating the pose.

Airplane Yoga also contains six checklists of ‘Strategies for Zen-Like Air Travel’ which include:

* Planning tips to do 24-hours in advance of the flight
* Packing list ‘essential items’ for the carry-on bag
* Breathing exercises to do on the way to the airport
* Pre-check-in & post-security line suggestions to stay calm
* Boarding Gate yoga poses
* Tips to boost comfort on board the plane in seats that were build for safety, not comfort

“Michael Huffman is both a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200) and was a CPA (Certified Public Accountant). He has spent 35+ years in ‘Corporate America’ and recognized that working at a desk and flying on planes shortens hamstrings, tightens shoulders and worsens posture.

He loves to fly and it shows. Michael considers himself a ‘road warrior’ with over 500,000 frequent flyer miles in various airline programs as of early 2025. His favorite destinations are Bali, Japan, and India.

His mission started in 2011 to create resources for ‘road warrior’ business travelers and those who spend their workday in front of a computer providing them with Zen-like instructions on how to incorporate basic yoga poses & techniques into their daily routine whether in an office or on the road.

Michael has been a yoga practitioner since 2000 and teacher since 2009. He believes yoga isn't just a 2,000 year old exercise regime, it's a lifestyle that includes nutritious food, immersing ourselves in the natural world, building community and living with an eco-friendly, light footprint on the planet.

Michael’s greatest passion in life has always been finding the most Zen things to do and the Zennest places on the planet. You can join him on his quest to find and curate the most innovative Zen Things to do, in Zen Destinations around the globe, as well as “learn his tips on how to live a Zen, Eco-Centric, and Planet-Conscious lifestyle.
