Alethia Rose lives as a sheltered slave in a world shattered by magic. Her mundane life is altered irrevocably when a a young elf helps her unlock the hidden secrets of her mystic heritage. Her freedom won, Rose embarks upon a journey that could mend her dying world or send it further down the spiral of destruction. She and her companions travel through the dangerous sands of her desert home to the majestic forest of the elven people and beyond to the mysterious underground cities and tunnels of the deep dark. They experience first-hand the astral fade, a plane of thought and feeling and the original home of gods dead, dying, and alive. Along the way Rose experiences love and loss and clashes with adversaries that tax her powerful magic and leave her wondering whether she can overcome the spell-titans of old and retain her sanity.
