Forensic nurses are an important link between the medical and legal worlds. The purpose of this course is to inform nursing professionals about forensic evidence collection and documentation, being mindful of preserving evidence while managing critically injured patients, and making referrals to or requesting the assistance of forensic specialists. In addition, members of the public may use this course to enhance their personal knowledge of the subject matter presented.


Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:


1. Outline key points related to forensic evidence preservation.

2. Discuss best practices for the physical examination and interview of the forensic patient.

3. Apply standards for the collection and documentation of forensic evidence.
